Local strawberries will be available on the market in less than a month
Local strawberries will be available on the market in less than a month. Manufacturer from Criuleni also promised that local fruits will not be more expensive then imported ones. For four years, the farmer received subventions worth over 8 million lei. Strawberries are grown in a greenhouse through a method called hydroponic. From a single plan can be harvested to 700 grams of fruits.
"The plan is not grown in soil, but Coconut fiber substrate. Here are plants, which are irrigated with a drip. The prices were not yet established, but of course they will be bigger in the beginning, over 100 lei" administrator Dumitru Mironov said.
Employees claim that they work in the greenhouse all year round.
"Each dried plant is cleaned for a rich harvest."
Minister of Agriculture claims that building such greenhouses allowed farmers to gain more income, while the local market will no longer be filled with imported strawberries.
"From a hectare can be harvested to 50 tonnes. We have the possibility to increase the harvest by 2, 3 times. The Ministry will support this project, because it needs to be developed" Minister of Agriculture, Liviu Volconovici said.
Agency of Payments and Intervention for Agriculture (APIA) motivate farmers, who grow fruits and vegetables in greenhouses, with subventions to 65% of the total investments made by farmers.
"Growing fruits and vegetables in greenhouses are one of the prioritized areas, as through this field, we ensure more productivity and bigger competition" AIPA director, Nicolae Ciubuc said.
Previously, employees met with multiple farmers from Criuleni, where they spoke about subventions.
"Since we lacked those subventions last year, we bought second hand equipment. Now, using subventions, we can purchase new equipment" farmer Gheorghe Tiholaz said.
"We are building three refrigerators, one in Criuleni that can hold to 800 tonnes, one in Boşcana that can also hold to around 800 tonnes" a specialist from Criuleni Agriculture Department, Vitalie Onisciuc said.
"We opened the application and are collecting the files, one and a half month ago. We offer subventions worth to 400 million lei. So far, around 400 farmers applied" AIPA director, Nicolae Ciubuc said.
In 2017, over 120 farmers from Criuleni received subventions worth over 30 million lei.
