Law enforcement urge people to be more cautious those days when leaving the house
Law enforcement are urging people to be more cautious those days when leaving the house.
According to General Police Inspectorate, since the beginning of the years, 4 out of 10 break ins were no trouble for burglars. Most of the time the doors were left unlocked, while in 340 cases, thieves broke the locks or entered through the window.
To keep uninvited guests at bay, police officers recommend people to install alarm systems and CCTV. Security bars on windows are also an option.
"First of all, don't announce your departure. Do not load your luggage in the middle of the day when everyone sees it" chief of IGP Public Security Department, Marin Mazian said.
"We have an alarm system installed. It allows me to leave the house more at peace."
"I lock the door."
"I have a neighbor who keeps an eye on my apartment."
It is also advised to request the neighbors to watch over the house.
"Best officer is your neighbor. We always recommend people to maintain friendly relations with their neighbors, from the block, from the same floor" Marin Mazian mentioned.
Some people were taught the hard way to never announce their departure on social media.
"Do not post on the Internet all your actions. It is in your best interest that not everyone knows where you are heading" Marin Mazian said.
Data shows that in the first three months of this year were registered 825 break ins, by 8% less than in a similar period last year.
