Authorities try to manage railway accidents issue
The national authorities started to pay more attention to the railway accidents. Only last year, the General Police Inspectorate discovered how the trains hit eight cars that crossed illegally the railway road. Most often, the accidents were caused because the drivers were not attentive and didn't pay attention to the traffic lights.
In these conditions, the train worker job is not recommended to everyone. Iurie Varvariuc says he works for more than 20 years in this sphere and faced different situations.
"-I was returning from Ocnita. At the railway crossing from Medeleni village and noticed that a man ignored the traffic light. He breached, but the car touched the railway and I hit him.
-Where there any victims?
-No.", said Iurie Vacarciuc, railway worker.
"Many drivers don't respect the speed limit", said Ana Vasilcova, dispatch at the railway.
Totally, in the country we have 226 railway crossings and 35 of these have barriers. This year, the Moldova Railway Organization intends to arrange ten crossings. Now, the breaches of the rules that involved the railway stations are fined.
The most tragic impact near a railway station took place on November, 2011. A train hit a minibus near Bulboaca village, Anenii Noi district. Eight people died, after the driver ignored the red color on the traffic light.
