Around one thousand Moldovans have been fined since the beginning of the year for throwing garbage in unauthorized places. 

The amount of the fines varied between 900 and 1,800 lei.

Local authorities and ecologic inspectors reserve the rights to sanction those people who throw garbage in unauthorized places. 

According to statistical data, there are around 2,500 unauthorized places in Moldova where waste is stored.

Experts say that, in fact, the real number might be higher.
