First five candidates running for Chisinau Mayor can launch their political campaigns
The first five candidates running for Chisinau Mayor were registered by the Electoral Commission. They are: Vasile Costiuc, representing the Party Democracy Home, Andrei Năstase, leader of Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Alexandr Roșco, representing the Our Home Moldova party, Reghina Apostolova, representative of Șor party and liberal Valeriu Munteanu.
Starting today, they can start their political campaigns. Maia Laguta, Sergiu Tofilat, Viorel Știrbu and interim Mayor of the Capital, Silvia Radu, announced their intentions to run as independent candidates. They begun collecting the necessary signatures. From the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, Ion Ceban has submitted his documents to run for Mayor. The registration period will be opened to April 19.
National Unity Party's favorite, Constantin Codreanu has presented today his priorities, but has not yet registered to run for Mayor. He launched a political campaign along with multiple Romanian officials and members of the party.
"First of all, I promise and assure that all pensioners from Chisinau will receive financial support. Allocations for children aged from 0 to 18 years old that already have Romanian citizenship. Establishment of 20 social canteens" Constantin Codreanu said.
Local elections will take place on May 20 in multiple regions of the country, including Chișinău and Bălți.
