Five hundred trash can pads will be modernized in Chisinau
Five hundred trash can pads will be modernized within a project financed by National Ecology Fund. The works begun in 2016 and will be completed by the end of the year. To this points 200 pads were renovated. The project costs 25 million lei.
Citizens of the Capital are happy that they will no longer see trash can pads from the soviet union near their apartment buildings.
"The biggest problem is that the wind scatters all the trash."
"A platform with a roof must be build here. When the waste is collected, the trash cans are dragged on the rocks and its hard."
Those ideas are foresee in the project. Moreover, for the construction of the trash can pads will be used a material that will not allow the ground to be soiled. People living near zones where the renovation already took place claim that it now looks completely different.
"In the past the trash cans were not cover and would stand everywhere. Compared to now, it was very dirty" a man said.
"It is logical. When it rains, water will not enter the trash cans. I think this is the reason why it was added" a citizen of the Capital said.
The project foresees the construction of ten underground platforms, for the first time in Moldova.
The idea was inspired from the big cities from Great Britain, France and Romania.
"The trash cans will remain the same, but the system will be changed. They will be installed underground. When the trash cans will be filled, a system will rise it and the waste will be evacuated" Head of the Sanitation Section, Vasile Efros declared.
Previously, interim Mayor of the Capital, Silvia Radu requested for all trash can pads to be inspected and modernized, while those placed wrong to be moved.
