Investments in penitentiaries: Two blocks will be built at Goian prison
The state announces new investments in the infrastructure of the prisons. Till the end of the year, the Leova prison will open a new block for the defendants from Goian village. The projects come to solve the overcrowd of the prisons.
Also, the penitentiaries will be renovated with new halls for studying, bedrooms and surveillance cameras. The costs of the works are worth three million euros.
"Now, we want to obey all the rules of the European Union and will make the all possible to provide it", said Liuba Jignea-Suveica, the chief of the No.10 penitentiary.
The penitentiary from Leova builds a block for 110 defendants. The investments are around 13 million lei.
"The number of the defendants had raised and we should try to provide the required conditions", said Aureliu Suhan, the chief of the Penitentiary Institutions Department.
In April, in the country there were over 7 500 defendants in the whole country, which is 400 more than in the same period of 2017.
