French President Emmanuel Macron expressed on Tuesday his country's commitment to start "a new chapter" with Australia, saying that the two states' "vision and objectives are perfectly aligned."
Macron was welcomed to Australia by the country's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his wife with a dinner at Sydney Opera House on Tuesday.
Macron arrived in Australia earlier on Tuesday for a three-day visit to seek closer cooperation between the two countries on security issues.
Turnbull was in France last week for World War I commemorations.
