New trolleybus running to Sângera launched today
People living in Sângera will be able to take a trolleybus going to Capital's downtown starting today. After the launch of trolleybus route No. 31, authorities are thinking of opening new routes going to other suburbs of the city.
"We believe this route will become popular very fast, therefore if necessary, more trolleybuses will be put on the route" deputy director of Public Transport Department, Vitalie Butucel said.
Route No. 31 ties 31 August street from Capital with Sângera town. At the moment, 5 trolleybuses are running on the route. A single vehicle costs 200 000 Euro.
According to Vitalie Butucel, to May 16, an electric bus will be brought to Chisinau from Belarus. It will be tested for a month and if all criteria will be met, such vehicles will appear in the future on the streets from Capital.
The trolleybus will begin its route at Calea Ieşilor street, will pass Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt boulevard all the way to Negruzzi boulevard.
