The driver who crashed into a police officer, causing his death, three months ago in Coşniţa, was sentenced to 3 years, with prohibition from driving for the next 4 years. The man will also have to pay to the officer's family moral compensation of 200 000 lei.

PUBLIKA.MD reminds that the tragedy took place on February 3. While drunk driving a BMW on Dubăsari – Chişinău highway, the man lost control and crashed into a police officer located on the opposite lane.

After the impact, the 28-year-old victim passed away. According to the information, the man was a patrol officer and was off duty at the time.

During questionings, the suspect confessed.
