A Moldovan attempted to smuggle into the country clothes worth over 600 000 lei, but was arrested at Cairaclia crossing point.

According to border guards, a Volkswagen Caravel driven by a 46-year-old man was stopped at the country's entrance. Bags filled with clothes were discovered in the van, the driver lacking documents proving their origin. The contraband was brought from Ukraine. 

The case is being investigated. The man now risks a fine of 500 to 650 conventional units, 180 to 240 hours of unpaid community service, or to 2 years of imprisonment.
