Investigation at Sangera and Cimislia. Five inspectors, car operator and others detained
Five inspectors of the National Transportation Company and a representative of the traffic were detained this evening by CNA officers, anti corruption officers and SPIA investigators within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The defendant are investigated within a penal case of bribery and traffic of influence.
According to the investigation, it was established that the inspectors of the National Agency of Crriers, being deployed at the mobile checkpoints of heavy trucks Sângera and Cimişlia, would have implemented a scheme of money laundering from the operators of road freight transport , receiving from each truck between 200 and 500 lei.
Money would have been claimed to relieve contractors of contravention for "Violation of heavy, explosive, highly flammable, radioactive or toxic cargoes, large-scale or overhead vehicles".
A number of special investigative measures were undertaken in the framework of the criminal investigation, in which the illegal actions of the inspectors and of the road transport operators were documented. Several criminal cases for passive, active, influential trafficking were initiated and merged into a joint process.
The detained persons are to be escorted to the CNA for hearings. The case is further documented to identify the entire circle of suspects.
