Such a machine was procured by a farmer in Siret village, Straseni district. The man claims that this method offers healthy plantings and quality grapes.

The equipment was procured from Spain and cost 60,000 euros. More than half of the amount was provided by USAID Moldova.

"Our goal is to improve the quality of these products so that they can be sold at higher prices. A way to achieve this goal is to increase quality seedlings," said Karner Hilliard, USAID Mission Head of Moldova.

At present, low quality cuttings are produced in Moldova, which are exported to CIS countries only. This machine is a step towards the European market.

"We tend to pass the production of the devirused material and the certified biological category," said Dumitru Rusu, Head of Control Seminar Directorate, ANSA.

Farmers who purchase such equipment will receive 25 percent subsidies from the state.
