Chiril Gaburici at European Weak of Renewable Energy: Renewable energy is a priority for our country
"The energetic efficiency and the renewable energy are national priorities. At the moment, 2% of the electrical energy is renewable. I consider it is too less. Till 2020, we target to raise it by 8%." The affirmation belongs to Chiril Gaburici, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure within the European Week of Renewable Energy in Moldova, that will take place between June 4 and 10.
Also, Chiril Gaburici highlighted the priorities of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure for 2018. He said that they target to develop the electrical energy system, to use renewable energy, as the electrical energy will provide low costs for the future. At the same time, the minister of Economy and Infrastructure mentioned that in the last eight years, the Republic of Moldova benefited of development partners worth over 100 million Euro, that were invested in efficiency of the energy.
"The electrical energy independence is very important for the Republic of Moldova. As higher the share of the renewable energy will be, as more independent our country will be.
Through the Ministry's policies we wish to bring to Moldova by 2020 investments over 250 million Euro, around 170 MW of electricity generation capacities. We thank our development partners for the offered assistance and count on their support in the future" Chiril Gaburici said.
European Union Ambassador to Moldova, Peter Michalko mentioned that EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is organized to promote the best practices and ideas to develop sustainable energy, especially consolidation of energy and development of renewable sources. By creating cheaper energy and shifting the society to consume renewable energy, citizens will be able to save money on bills. At the same time, EU Ambassador appreciated the results Republic of Moldova gained in implemented projects for developing the energy sector.
"I am happy that due to the competent institutions' efforts and the support of international partners, over the past few years, in Republic of Moldova was increased the share of renewable energy. There are still aspects that can be improved and much to be done. We wait for the law on promoting renewable energy to be fully applied in practice" Peter Michalko said.
EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2018 aims to promote the usage of renewable sources in Republic of Moldova.
