Moldovan farmers can export cherries in Europe for 2,5 Euro for one kilo
Even if the European market is more stable now, the farmers don't cope the requests and can't export cherries in Europe.
The cherries that arrive on the European market should fit the standards. For example, those should have the diameter of at least 17 millimeters."
The shape, color and the size don't count, when it comes to the Russian market. The contracts with the European partners, these criteria are very important.
"It is important for us to export cherries of high quality", said Andrei Cumpanici, specialist within Developed Agriculture for USAID.
The fruit growers who managed to send the cherries in Europe are very few. After nine years of experience on the Russian market, Igor Ivanov sold cherries on the European market, in Romania.
"The Russian market is more unstable. The prices from Russia and the EU can't even be compared", said Iurie Dodon, the general director of a company that has an orchard.
The experts say that the Moldovan cherries can be exported on a 2,5 Euros for a kilo price.

The cherry orchards lay on a surface of four thousand ha. Yearly, over 12 thousand fruits are produced.
