Import continues to grow in Moldova. Most goods originated from European Union
In January-April 2018, Republic of Moldova imported goods worth 1.8 billion USD, by 27% more than in the same period of time in 2017.
According to National Bureau of Statistics, over 50% of imported goods are originated from European Union.
In the first four months of the year, Republic of Moldova imported from EU goods worth over 888 million USD, by 32% more than the previous year.
Imports from CIS countries also grew by 16%.
Statistics also show that import from China increased by 41%, while from Romania and Russia by 26% and 21%.
Still, most import growth was registered with South Africa, Brazil and Israel.
Data also showed that most imported goods in Moldova were cars and transport equipment, amounting to 22%. Those are followed by manufactured goods, mineral fuels, chemicals and food.
