Parliament hosted 7th reunion of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Moldova and of Romania
The Parliament hosted today the 7th reunion of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Republic of Moldova and Parliament of Romania. The meeting was led by the Commission's Deputy Presidents, George Mocanu and Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu.
Deputy President representing the Parliament of Republic of Moldova, George Mocanu declared that Romania is a constant and special partner of Moldova in the process of European Integration.
"Romania's presidency at the EU Council in the first semester of 2019 could be the platform that will allow advancement in certain cooperation fields between Republic of Moldova and European Union as well as an opportunity to promote the country's European integration" deputy George Mocanu said.
George Mocanu also mentioned that a request will be made toward the Government of Republic of Moldova and Romania to include in the agendas the signing of a bilateral agreement that will facilitate the employment of citizens from both states.
In his turn, Deputy President representing Romania, Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu reiterated Romania's support in creating opportunities to bring Republic of Moldova closer to its European Integration aim by unfolding joint projects in economy, regional development, agriculture, energy, industry, education etc.
"We support the urgent finalization of infrastructure projects regarding Moldova's interconnection to the European energy market. We are doing everything possible to identify sustainable solutions to increase efficiency in the border traffic" Romanian deputy said.
Republic of Moldova's implementation of the EU Association Agreement was presented to the deputies by Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Daniela Morari, who also spoke of the 2017-2019 plan.
Following discussions among deputies from permanent committees of the Parliament of Republic of Moldova and deputies of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies and Senate, was signed the Declaration of Joint Committee for European Integration. The document established the priorities in the collaboration between Moldova and Romania, deputies urging both the Government of Moldova and Romania to actively contribute in implementing joint projects for foreign policy, national security, economy, regional development, agriculture, energy, industry, education, culture and human resources.
George Mocanu and Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu announced the specific aims for the near future during a press conference. A request will be forwarded for the urgent finalization of the project to interconnect Republic of Moldova to the European energy market, develop cooperation in construction and modernize transport infrastructure, increase the efficiency of crossing points to ease the traffic.
At the same time, the commission pleads for an intensified parliamentary dialogue in fields of similar areas of work that will address the common agenda and the prospects for the bilateral relationship, evaluating on a regular basis the political commitments made by both states, as well as the joint priorities for action and methods for coordinating and intensifying cooperation in the context of Republic of Moldova's European integration.
According to the agenda, Parliament of Romania's delegation at the Joint Commission for European Integration has met in the morning with President of Moldovan Parliament, Andrian Candu. In the afternoon, Romanian deputies will speak with deputies from the Commission for the Economy, Budget and Finance, External Policy and European Integration, Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family. Romania deputies will also speak with officials from the Government and will visit a number of social and cultural insitutions that were renovated with the financial support of the Romanian Government.
Parliament of Republic of Moldova was represented at the meeting by deputies George Mocanu, Marcel Răducan, Roman Boțan, Corneliu Padnevici, Igor Vremea, Valerian Bejan și Sergiu Stati. While the Parliament of Romania was represented by deputies George Mocanu, Marcel Răducan, Roman Boțan, Corneliu Padnevici, Igor Vremea, Valerian Bejan și Sergiu Stati. The meeting was also attended by MEP Andi Cristea.
The Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Republic of Moldova and Parliament of Romania is meeting twice per year, at Bucharest and Chisinau. The last reunion took place in Bucharest between 20-21st November 2017.
