28% of the arable lands from the country are gnawed. The most grave situation is in the South district. Moreover, in the next 40 years the productivity of the soil risks to decrease by 40%.

According to the data of the Institute of Soil Protection, the total destroyed surface reached 860 thousand ha and 58 thousand among which are gnawed.

The statistics also shows that four percent of the lands from Moldova face landslides. The most grave situation is in Telenesti, Falesti and Calarasi districts.

The fertility of 40% of the lands is under 2%. Also, the clime changes strengthened the drought. All these damaged the quality of the soil.
