Last Sunday of June, National Day of the Folk Costume
Today is being celebrated the National Day of the Folk Costume. Initiated five years ago, as an online event, La Bouse Roumaine, became real international holiday marked in over a hundred cities, from 50 countries.
The Romanian Folk Costume attracted artists and inspired various renown designers, such as Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo and Tom Ford. In 2015, Parliament of Republic of Moldova declared the last Sunday of June the National Day of the Folk Costume.
In villages and cities from all over Moldova are being organized cultural events.
At the Republican Palace, for the third year in a row, is celebrated the National Day of the Folk Costume. The event is organized by Ministry of Education, Culture and Research that aims to promote authentic folk costume of the Romanian people and of the ethnicities living in the Republic of Moldova. The even begun with a greeting message from Minister Monica Babuc, as well as Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, Daniel Ioniţă.
Visitors will have the chance to learn how folk costumes are made, within some workshops, while folk music will be heard, provided by "Lăutarii", "Folclor" orchestras, by Alex Calancea Band and Lupii band.
