Iran said on Monday it is suing the US over the freezing of 2 billion US dollars worth of its assets.
Bahram Ghasemi, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said the assets belonged to Iran's central bank, and called the freezing "illegal."
In 2016, the US Supreme Court ruled that the assets should be distributed among survivors and relatives of those killed in attacks America attributes to Iran, including the 1983 bombing of a US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon.
