Gross Domestic Product grew by 3.7% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the increase was influenced by the development of domestic trade, industry and information technologies. In total, the GDP amounted to 37.6 billion lei.

Experts say that the jump in trade, transport, hotels and restaurants, which recorded an increase in the volume of over 6 percent and a contribution to GDP growth of 1.2 percent.

"I think it will be certainly an increase of more than 4 percent," said Roman Chircă, economic expert.

IT executives also confirm that IT, the industry's biggest growth in the last eight years, is becoming more and more attractive and steadily rising.

Experts from the World Bank forecast for this year a steady increase in GDP to 3.8 percent.
