Development of Commercial Corridors will facilitate trade. What projects are about to be implemented by Customs Service?
The condition of the commercial corridors of the Republic of Moldova was analyzed within a study presented yesterday by the program for Structural Reforms in Moldova funded by the US Agency for International Development.
At the event came James D.Pettit, the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Iuliana Dragalin, the state secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and Iurie Ceban, the deputy director of the Customs Service.
The commercial corridors target measuring corridor performance, identifying bottlenecks and constraints, and defining solutions to improve the performance of corridors, which in turn will facilitate the trade. A study on ECC includes a vast range of recommendations and strategies for the Republic of Moldova Government that wants to facilitate the international trade.
"The commercial corridors will offer the authorities and businessmen from Moldova more solutions to strengthen the performances of the commercial halls in order to reduce the costs of the affairs and raise the Moldovan products competitiveness on the international market", mentioned James D.Pettit.
At his turn, Iurie Ceban, the vice director of the Customs Service said that the institution evolved a vast range of projects that come to develop the commercial corridors. These aim to develop the customs, to build new customs checking points.
The institution also promotes the common control concept, that targets to reduce the time of border crossing.
Such projects as automatizing the customs processes are also discussed.
USAID program for Structural Reforms in Moldova was launched on January 30.
