30% of the number of persons employed in the Customs Service are women's representatives. The same percentage is recorded in the management positions they occupy. At the same time, nine of the 18 subdivisions of the Central Apparatus are also run by women. The figures were presented by Customs Director Vitalie Vrabie at the information session on the objectives of UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, organized in partnership with the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Moldova and representatives of the civil society.
The meeting was organized on the occasion of initiating the implementation process of the Customs Service Action Plan on the Implementation of the National Implementation Program of the Resolution.
The Action Plan of the Customs Service on this chapter was approved on July 16 this year. It contains eight objectives, for which a series of actions and progress indicators are established. And the main purpose is to exclude discrimination and promote gender equality in the security and defense sector.
"The principle of gender equality and chances is strongly promoted by the Customs Service so as to increase the representativeness and the number of women at all levels of decision-making. Professionalism is not age, social, ethnic or gender, but is determined only by skills, training and perseverance. We believe in the potential of women and encourage them to advance in their career", Vitalie Vrabie said.
He also expressed the certainty that the implementation of the Action Plan, recently approved by the Customs Service, will help the institution to ensure equal opportunities and opportunities for promotion for all employees.
