Transgaz could receive non-reimbursable European funds worth 46 million euros to increase the capacity of the pipeline to transport gas to the Republic of Moldova, said Ciprian Alic, director of the European Union's European Funds and International Relations Department, present at a debate on the Black Sea gas issue, according to agerpres.ro.
"We are in the final phase of the evaluation procedure on the Large Infrastructure Operational Program for Oneşti - Gherăeşti - Leţcani project, 165 kilometers of pipeline and two compressing stations. The project will benefit - I hope, because so far the feed-back is positive after the assessment - of about 46 million euros reimbursable", said Alic.
This project will increase the capacity of the existing interconnector to 1.5 - 2.2 billion cubic meters per year to the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, regarding the BRUA pipeline meant to transport the Black Sea gas to the rest of Europe, the Transgaz representative showed that the realization of this project is not equivalent to the total gas export from the country, but in order to take gas from the main pipeline, it is necessary Strengthening the distribution system.
"We have read in the media that the export of Romanian gas is wanted, that we give the gas to foreigners, and Romania is left without gas. Sure, here is a problem related to the distribution system, it is a legislative problem that I saw is being solved, it is a program through which the administrative-territorial units can connect to the distribution systems and to the national transport system. Tuzla-Podişor-BRUA, so the entire southern corridor is not a freeway, "Alic said.
He reminded that Transgaz has an investment plan of 1.6 billion euros for the next 10 years.
Transgaz started the assembly works at the first BRUA pipeline on the Recaş site in Timis County, said one day ago for AGERPRES, General Manager of the company, Ion Sterian.
"The first pipelines have reached the site to Recaş, where they have started the assembly works," Sterian said.
This project received funding from the European Commission of € 179.3 million, accounting for 40% of total costs. In March 2018, Transgaz requested a pre-financing of 13.8 million euros, which was received in May.
Phase I of the BRUA project requires a total investment of €478.6 million, and the estimated start-up and start-up is December 2019.
