Border police officers identified four drivers driving the means of transport under the fake driving license. The cases have been recorded during the last 72 hours at the crossing points Costeşti, Criva and Giurgiulesti-Galati.
A Turkish citizen had to enter the Republic of Moldova as a simple traveler, after it was found that the driving license was counterfeit. The 46-year-old man was present at the PTF Giurgiulesti-Galati, driving a Mercedes, registered in Bulgaria. In the framework of rigorous control, the border policeman noted several suspicious items in the driving license that denotes the falsity of the act.
The Turkish citizen said he had received the document by post, after asking the Turkish authorities to change the old driving license to a new, international one.
A counterfeit driving license was also found in a young couple with dual citizenship, the Republic of Moldova and Romania. At the exit of the country, the 28-year-old man was stopped by the border guards and was asked to submit a Volkstwagen Golf with Bulgarian registration numbers besides the travel documents and those for the driven car. Under these circumstances, it was discovered that the Romanian driving license does not correspond to an original act. The driver mentioned that he had perfected his document through strangers, which justifies his ignorance of the false discovery.
Another citizen of the Republic of Moldova presented the Ukrainian driving license at the border control, with obvious signs of falsification. In the PTF Costeşti a BMW, registered in Romania, approached the exit line. The 26-year-old driver handed over for verification all necessary documents that would authorize the crossing of the state border. Among the documents, the driving license, issued in 2015 by the Ukrainian authorities, with visible signs of falsification: the character of the text differs from the original, the blancheta is not secured, etc. At the hearing, the young man claimed he had legally obtained the driving license.
The third country, holding the counterfeit driving license, was identified in the Criva common PTF. The 33-year-old man was driving a Peugeot Partner with Moldovan registration numbers. At the border crossing control line, made in the sense of leaving the country, the Border Police employee suspected the driving license issued by the Romanian authorities for categories A, B, C. In this regard, the document was submitted to the examination with the special technique, where it was found to be forged. The driver was unable to explain the findings, since he was in possession of the document as early as 2006 and had no difficulty.
In all cases, the documents were lifted and sent for expertise, and individuals risk, according to art. 361 al. (1) CP of the Republic of Moldova, a fine of up to 650 conventional units or community service from 150 to 200 hours, or imprisonment for up to 2 years.
