Pupils in the first class of studies from this year will study a new discipline, named digital education. For this, the heads of the educational institutions from the country received 1,850 last-generation tablets.
Then there will be a gadget in each class. For class I boys, the course will be compulsory, and up to the sixth grade will be optional.
"These tools such as tablet, computer, projector, and interactive whiteboard will help us discover more mysteries."
Children will learn robotics, entrepreneurship and analytical thinking.
"The challenge will be how to teach students to take those capabilities and skills to use information technologies in learning," said Columna high school teacher Danieal State.
Students say the new discipline will be of great use to them, and the lessons will be more fun.
"I understand from this lesson that school will give us lessons from tablets and computers. It will be more fun and cheerful."
"I like the most to read on the board".
"- What do you know about technologies?
- That they are useful and sometimes harmful".
With the launch of the new course, a new era of education will begin.
"It was a very difficult thing, but here it is, so we start why we would not say a new era in national education in our country," said Monica Babuc, Minister of Education, Culture and Research.
"This discipline will teach children to use information technologies, encourage and cultivate the passion for the exact sciences and will make the children from the beginning orientate themselves towards fields of activity and prospective professions", said Economy and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici.
IT enthusiasts have welcomed the decision to introduce discipline, as the field faces a great shortage of specialists.
"It is a very beautiful and important project for the Republic of Moldova for the educational sector. As parents and as citizens of the country we are very happy because the educational system is changing", said ATIC president Irina Străjescu.
Digital education was introduced after representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Education, the National Association of ICT Companies and TEKWILL Training and Innovation Center established a partnership in June.
