The problem of insufficient water supply and sanitation of the Moldovan localities was discussed today during a working meeting at the Government, chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
At present, only 53% of the country's population is connected to the aqueduct with drinking water and technical water. Even smaller - about 23% have access to sewerage networks.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip was worried about these figures, noting that it is unacceptable that in the 21st century people would not have access to qualitative drinking water.
"When we talk about the Government's three priorities, including infrastructure, we mean not only road infrastructure, but we also have access to water and sewerage. Our task is to get these services in every locality in the country, at every citizen", said prime minister.
Pavel Filip urged the industry to draw up a master plan for water supply and sewerage in the shortest possible time and to inventory all water and sanitation networks.
At the same time, the Apele Moldovei Agency is to be reorganized, so that it is possible to centralize the services in such a way that the tariffs are accessible to the citizens.
Currently in the Republic of Moldova there are water supply systems of 52 municipalities and towns and 708 villages, which represent 45.3% of the localities of the country.
