Republic of Moldova remains a strategic priority for the Bucharest authorities, and our country's European course will be further supported by Romania. These messages, recently announced at the Annual Meeting of the Romanian Diplomacy, were sent to Prime Minister Pavel Filip by the Romanian ambassador to Chisinau Daniel Ioniţă.
The prime minister thanked the Romanian side for their support, mentioning its importance in the realization of the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova, but also in the implementation of the bilateral projects. "Romania is for us not just a neighboring country and not just a partner - we live in the same space and we have the same values. We stick to the already started projects and we want their continuation to get closer", said the Prime Minister.
Among the major projects of major interest were the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline, the interconnection of the electric grids, the development of the infrastructure and the elimination of the roaming tariffs between the two countries. Ambassador Daniel Ioniţă said that Romania's grant for renovation of kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova was recently supplemented by 3 million euro.
The officials also exchanged views on the reforms promoted by the Government, as well as the implementation of the commitments made to the development partners. The Prime Minister mentioned that the Republic of Moldova relies on Romania's support in the context of taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 January 2019.
