The Education direction announced that only 42 schools from the Capital will have two 10th grade classes, one of Mathematics and one of Literature.
"The number of pupils accepted in the 10th grade decreased, because of the low birth rate and the interests of children to learn", said Rodica Gutu, the chief of General Direction of Education, Youth and Sport.
Ten lyceums from the suburbs and 21 from the Capital will have just one class. This year, 4.500 pupils were accepted to lyceums.
According to the regulations, a school can lose the title of lyceum, if it has an insufficient number of pupils for a period of three years.
