Exports and imports are steadily increasing, allowing economic experts to make optimistic forecasts for country development.
According to Veaceslav Ioniţă, this year, for the first time, exports will exceed three billion dollars and imports will be more than six billion dollars. And for the first time for our country, two billion dollars of freight deliveries will come from the European Union.
"Currently, 80 percent of all Moldova's exports growth is determined by the increase in exports to the EU. The Republic of Moldova in a country 20 years ago was over 70 percent dependent on the CIS countries. 180 degrees, "said economic expert Veaceslav Ionita.
According to the economic expert, exports to Romania have increased by over 330 million dollars in the last three years. Veaceslav Ionita explains this increase by the fact that in the neighboring country come auto parts and machine equipment. And they cost far more than the fruits or vegetables grown in the country.
Second place in the top 10 is Italy. Here the increase of $ 128 million in three years is due to the export of nuts, cereals, animal fats and glass. In Germany, exports have risen from 2016 by about 120 million dollars. Exports have also increased in Poland and Turkey.
We also exported more in Ukraine, Switzerland and Austria, but also Russia. Ioniţă mentions that most of the agricultural products grown in our country go to the Russian Federation, because we have managed to partially regain the Russian market after the 2013 embargo.
Exports also grow thanks to investments made in recent years in agriculture and free economic zones.
"I believe that investment in agriculture, including the subsidies that have been given for many years in a row.Slowly, we are beginning to yield results Investors in the free economic zones if until 2011 - 2012 were practically forced to go to the existing areas after it our authorities have changed their approach.Once our authorities have opened 11 new sub-areas in the last 4 years These sub-zones have been opened not where they gave them in the head but where investors demanded", said the economic expert, Veaceslav Ionita.
The expert also talks about imports for the first time exceeding $ 6 billion annually, and exports to Romania for the first time will be more than $ 750 million, the largest volume ever exported by Moldova to a country .
Higher imports mean higher consumption due to higher household incomes. That is, Moldovans can afford more, from food, clothing, to products and services.
