Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip laid flowers at the US Embassy in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. According to the head of the Legislature, Moldova is alongside US citizens and along with all those who have suffered.
"In this September we remember the events in the US that have had a global impact, especially those in New York. It is a phenomenon that many countries feel, and there are still many victims. To not have situations like that we need compassion, understanding, solidarity, but also the mobilization of all forces. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova are alongside US citizens and along with all those who have suffered", said Andrian Candu.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that only by joint effort can such crimes be countered.
"Generally, terrorist acts are the most abominable crimes that may exist because you can not really understand what is the origin and what is actually the purpose, I think they are the most terrible." This terrorist attack in 2001, from my point of view it has changed the perception of humanity about terrorism because it was something out of the ordinary. I think after that time, September 11, 2001, the whole world got better mobilized, because only by a joint effort such crimes can be countered.
Our country is also ready for terrorist attacks. Special services are doing their job well, we have regular meetings, but in every structure of force is an antiterrorist detachment and through international collaboration, who have more experience than the Republic of Moldova, we strive to be on the same level of training ", concluded the head of the Cabinet of ministers.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York were hit within a few minutes by two hijacked planes.
Subsequently, another hijacked plane collapsed over the Pentagon, causing significant damage to the western facade of the US Department of Defense building.
A fourth hijacked device collapsed on a field in Pennsylvania. The precise target of terrorists has remained unknown until now, just like the exact circumstances of the catastrophe. It seems that some passengers, informed by mobile phone about the events in New York, have attacked the terrorists.
Almost 3,000 people have lost their lives in the tragedy that shocked the world, and several hundred others were seriously injured. The United States has entered an unprecedented state of alert and triggered the war against Al-Qaeda.
