Health ministry will punish parents whose children won't be vaccinated
The Minister of Health asks to punish the parents who don't vaccinate their children. The proposal was announced by Aliona Serbulenco, State Secretary within some hearings organized by the Parliamentary commission for health on measles subject.
"Here we talk about the Republic of Moldova legislation. The parents who don't vaccinate their children in time should be punished by a fine worth 500 Euro", said Aleona Serbulenco, State Secretary on Health Ministry.
"The parents should take into consideration the thing that they should fulfill their responsibilities", said Nicolae Esanu, state secretary at the Justice Ministry.
"We received this proposal. We will analyze what punishments should we apply", said Valentina Buliga, the President of Social Protection, Health and Family commission.
The authorities say that the best way to avoid a measles outbreak is to inform the population about the consequences.
"We also know that the Roma don't follow our recommendations and don't do these vaccines. But, we addressed a letter to their leader who influenced them. We are thankful", said Aleona Serbulenco, state secretary on Health system.
Now, over 3.000 children haven't been accepted to schools, because they didn't do the vaccines.
According to the National Agency for Public Health, the number of ill people reached 282. The most affected regions are Ceadâr-Lunga şi Vulcănești from Găgăuzia şi Ungheni and Taraclia.
