Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu spoke about Parlament's chances of voting on the necessary changes in the Constitution to introduce European Integration.
"Not only is there a phrase of European integration, there are several provisions that we propose as amendments to the Constitution, which are related to the European integration, but there are also many legal provisions that will have legal and political effect.
We currently have the votes of the Democratic Party and the European People's Party.
At the moment, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party, in which I trust that eventually there are pro-European parties, will vote for the changes in the Constitution, I do not expect votes from the Party of Socialists or Communists, although I will try to discuss and leaders of these factions.
I will, however, initiate discussions with the leadership of all the factions in order to have clarity to make a decision. I hope that I can find the right arguments and convince all colleagues considered to be pro-European to vote for these changes in the Constitution. We do not have much time, we have to vote on the changes in the Constitution, then send it to the promulgation.
I expect President Dodon to not promulgate first but to send it to Parliament again.
From this case we are limited, and we are obliged to vote for important laws as constitutional changes or organic laws by 30 November.
That is why in the next two weeks I will initiate discussions with the faction leaders to find the necessary support with the vote of these amendments in the Constitution.
The Democratic Party and the European People's Party have expressed their support and we are in favor of amending the Constitution on the European Integration chapter", said Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker.
