A village on the bank of the Prut attracts thousands of tourists every year thanks to traditions and hospitality. People arrive in Văleni, Cahul district, during cruises on the Danube. Tourists descend to Galaţi, from where they take buses to Văleni.
The organizers did not understand where the tourists were leaving and why they did not stay in Galati or Braila for a day. They initially thought they were going to Giurgiulesti Customs - located 10 kilometers away - to buy cheap cigarettes. The mystery was cleared when they found out about Văleni - the village where traditional dishes, wine and rural culture are the main attractions. There is also an unusual museum where guests can learn how to bake traditional bread or cola for weddings and baptisms, but can also taste products made there. The locality was already famous in Moldova thanks to Lidia Bejenaru, who participated at Eurovision 2005, alongside Zdob si Zdub.
And because the villagers compete to make tourists like it, they are more and more numerous from year to year. Văleni, now known as the holiday village of Moldova, is a documentary certified since 1430.
