A huge crack crushes the resistance structure of the viaduct linking the Botanica and Ciocana sector. The pit was formed just at the entrance to the bridge.
Authorities intervened and restricted the area only after the crater showed pictures on the Internet.
People who are forced to pass daily through the damaged area say the pit is not yesterday or today:
"We are afraid, but we have to go. People are already accustomed to the pit. To be honest, it would have had to be repaired long time ago".
"We worry, we know it will not be repaired too soon."
"The pit is causing some inconvenience to the pedestrians and can cause a traffic accident, but it can be repaired within two days. However, the risk of creeping viaducts does not exist", said Anatoly Omelko, a technical expert.
There are 20 bridges and viaducts in Chisinau. This year, the Mayoralty has allocated one million 200,000 lei for technical expertise.
