Foreign Ministers of Republic of Moldova and Ukraine discussed in Kiev issues of bilateral cooperation and European integration

The intensification of the political dialogue, the inter-ministerial cooperation, the Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation within the various regional and international organizations, as well as other issues of common interest were the main topics of the discussions of the foreign ministers of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, Tudor Ulianovschi and Pavlo Klimkin, the two officials in Kiev.
Tudor Ulianovschi and Pavlo Klimkin discussed issues related to the further development of integrated state border management, including joint control at border crossing points, intensification of cross-border cooperation, development of bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection, first of all protection the Dniester River and the rational use of common aquatic resources.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi appreciated the level of Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation in securing the Transnistrian sector of the state border, in particular by joint control at the Cuciurgan-Pervomaisk crossing point. We are interested in expanding this control jointly and at other points border crossing on this segment, as well as in the opening of the traffic for passenger transport on the Unguri-Bronnita bridge and the construction of a new bridge over the Nistru near the towns of Cosauti and Iampol", said Minister Ulianovschi.
In his turn, Pavlo Klimkin confirmed the willingness of the Ukrainian side to further promote the interaction with the Republic of Moldova in areas of mutual interest. In this context, Pavlo Klimkin noted the interest in continuing the successful practice of joint border control at the state border, including its Transnistrian segment. The head of the Ukrainian diplomacy also stressed the importance of speeding up the inauguration of Unguri-Bronnita Bridge.
The Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have also discussed the security issues faced by both states lately. "I reiterate the principle of the Republic of Moldova - we firmly support the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its eastern and Crimean peninsulas," Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed.
Referring to the issue, the head of the Kiev diplomacy noted that Ukraine is grateful to the Republic of Moldova for this consistent position and is open to intensive bilateral collaboration to reduce the risks to regional security. Pavlo Klimkin also appreciated the support given by the Republic of Moldova to the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children from families who suffered from the conflict in the East of Ukraine.
During the meeting, Ministers Tudor Ulianovschi and Pavlo Klimkin exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in other areas of common interest, especially trade, economic, social, education, etc., as well as cooperation within various regional and international organizations , in order to promote the common interests of national interests, to ensure the independence and territorial integrity, as well as the security of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Ministers Tudor Ulianovschi and Pavlo Klimkin signed the Inter-Ministerial Political Consultation Plan for 2018-2019, one of the themes of which is the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of European integration and the promotion of the reform agenda.
