Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze appreciated the Moldovan-Georgian relations as excellent, underlining that the bilateral dialogue is experiencing a continuous ascension due to common goals and interests. The meeting of the Prime Ministers took place today, on the margins of the meeting of the Heads of Government of GUAM member states.
Chief Executive of Chisinau stressed that the two countries have tangent points regarding the European path, the dialogue being dynamic, including the parliamentary level.
"This talks about the consistency of the relations between our countries and helps us to come up with solutions to all the emerging problems. I am glad that Moldova has such a friend and it is important to promote together the European values we are aiming for", said Pavel Filip.
In his turn, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze appreciated the good organization of the GUAM meeting and the personal contribution of Prime Minister Pavel Filip to the intensification of the bilateral dialogue.
"We see potential in developing our relationships and we are motivated to become even more intense. We have common goals and we must promote our national interests together", said Mamuka Bakhtadze.
A special topic of the talks was the cooperation in the economic field. The prime ministers stressed that while there is an increase in trade between states, the potential is not fully exploited. On this dimension it was proposed to capitalize on the opportunities of the Free Economic Zones, but also to hold the second meeting of the intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation. The parties agreed to hold the meeting in Chisinau by the end of this year.
Also, Pavel Filip and Mamuka Bakhtadze reiterated their mutual support in maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two states, including by involving international partners in the negotiation process. To improve the exchange of information on security standards, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Georgia on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information was signed.
