Militaries with gymnasium studies will no longer be released from military service on expiry of the contract. The Parliament approved in today's meeting the draft amendment of some legislative acts in 1st reading.
According to the new regulations, the military structures will no longer be able to release people who hold only secondary education after the expiry of the term of the first military service contract. At present, according to the provisions of the legislation in force, the contract is concluded for a term of 3 years in the military service of persons from the gymnasium soldiers, provided that during this period the person obtains high school education or technically professional. Otherwise, upon expiration of the contract, the soldiers are to be released from the military service, and three monthly balances are granted.
At the same time, the project provides for new military grades for soldiers and sergeants, which will be correlated with the military functions they will occupy, the studies and professional training, the seniority in the military rank and previously held.
According to the authors, the project clearly defines the role of the soldier and the sergeant in the military units. At the same time, the new provisions will ensure interoperability between soldiers and sergeants with similar military forces in other countries, especially for multinational peacekeeping missions.
The project is an element of the first stage in the process of professionalization of the Armed Forces.
The draft will be voted in final reading by Parliament's plenary.
