Republic of Moldova and United Arab Emirates will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation on Infrastructure field

The development of infrastructure projects, the establishment of mutually beneficial partnerships in various areas of bilateral cooperation and the initiation of investment projects were the topics discussed today by the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova, Chiril Gaburici and Abdullah Belhaif AlNuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development of the United Arab Emirates United (UAE). Discussions took place during the working visit of our country's delegation to Dubai, 4-6 November 2018.
The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, has become familiar with the Emirian practice of developing a balanced infrastructure able to ensure the planning and maintenance of the housing, road and highway projects in line with the best standards in the world, in partnership with the competent authorities. At the same time, the UAE Infrastructure Development Minister spoke about urban development plans for infrastructure projects as well as strategies for road sector development. In this context, Chiril Gaburici called for the intensification of bilateral cooperation and the initiation of joint partnerships. In the context, the parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation on infrastructure between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates.
In the context, Abdullah Belhaif AlNuaimi mentioned:
The UAE Infrastructure Development Minister also supported the bilateral inter-ministerial co-operation initiative to initiate investment projects in the field of infrastructure. At the same time, Abdullah Al Nuaimi reiterated his country's desire to explore the investment opportunities available in the Moldovan markets.
During the bilateral meeting, the ministers of the two states also discussed the entry into force of the bilateral Agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments, the avoidance of double taxation and tax evasion on income and property taxes signed between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates US.
The volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova with the United Arab Emirates in January - August 2018 was USD 13.3 million, up 4.4 times compared to the same period of 2017.
The United Arab Emirates ranks 35th among the world's partner countries with whom the Republic of Moldova has commercial relations, with a share of 0.24% of the total trade volume.
