Hearings within Open Dialog case postponed again. Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase refused to attend
PAS and PPDA leaders refused to attend the hearings at the Parliamentary Commission, that checks the involvement of Open Dialog foundation in the internal politics of the country and the funding of some parties. Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase asked repeatedly for the hearings to be public, despite it being against the law.
On the on side, the two of them say they have nothing to hide and have no ties with Open Dialog foundation. But on the other hand, they said their trips to Brussels were paid by the foundation of Ludmila Kozlovska.
"The invitation mentioned that the event was organized with Open Dialog, who financed our trip to Brussels", said Maia Sandu.
The last week, Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase refused to be heard within the Parliamentary's Investigation Commission, demanding it to be public.
"As long as the hearings are closed we won't attend it", said Andre Nastase, PPDA leader.
Moreover, the PAS leader claims she won't participate at the hearings, as she is not obliged to keep the state's secrets.
"We are not councilmen, we are not working for the state and therefore we don't need to keep state's secrets", Maia Sandu declared.
Igor Vremea, the president of the commission doesn't agree with Maia Sandu. According to him, the hearing can't be public, because these involve state secrets and it is against the law to divulge them.
"You don't have to be a councilmen to keep the state's secrets, as it is a moral duty of any citizen. The case we are investigating does not only involve the Republic of Moldova's secrets. It about information both from the inside and outside of the country", said Igor Vremea, the President of the Investigative Commission.
A few days ago, Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament mentioned that Maia Sandu uses fake pretexts to avoid the questions of the commission. She wants to make the deputies break the law, by divulging states secrets. Since the beginning of October, the PAS President mentioned they will answer the questions of the commission.
"I can't wait to attend the hearings, because I have much to say. At the same time, I am curious to see which law will be used", Maia Sandu said.
Despite Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase denying any ties with Open Dialog foundation, pictures appeared on-line with them attending events organized by the NGO.
The foundation's president, Ludmila Kozlovska admitted that she bought plane tickets for Maia Sandu's trip to Brussels. Previously, zeppelin.md journalists wrote that Open Dialog foundation is financed by Muhtar Abliazov.
