The European Union maintains the support for the aspirations of the Republic of Moldova. The statement was made by Tudor Buzatu, State Secretary responsible for implementing strategic partnerships in the Romanian Government. The official also stated in Bucharest's annual European Integration Debate Forum that Bucharest will intensify its support for this path.

Tudor Buzatu argues that the February 24th parliamentary elections are crucial to the country's future. According to him, it is important that the Chisinau authorities ensure the democratic process of this election. 

"The European Union and its Member States must continue to support the Republic of Moldova in consolidating state institutions. Romania is firmly convinced to continue and intensify its concrete support to the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova", said Tudor Buzatu, state secretary of the Romanian Government. 

The head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau said that the Moldovan authorities still have to work in the fields of justice reform and democracy. The official admitted that successes have also been recorded.

"We recognize progress in the economic and financial fields, and we have to say that it has been a good thing to stabilize the country after bank fraud. We have also seen great progress in using the Free Trade Agreement", said Peter Michalko, chief Of the EU Delegation to Moldova. 

At the same time, European experts noted progress in the settlement of the Transnistrian issue and encouraged our country to continue the reforms. 

"It is needed to make a lot of effort by Republic of Moldova, real reforms needs to be made, strengthen the independence of the judiciary, improve public services", said Stephan Meuser, a representative of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca said the Chisinau authorities are determined to continue the reforms under the Association Agreement with the EU. 

"Our priority at this stage is to create the necessary framework for identifying and counteracting these hybrid attacks, taking over the experience of both the European Union and the NATO member countries", said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Iurie Leanca. 

The event was organized by the Association for Foreign Policy EPA, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Moldova Foundation, in partnership with the Foreign Ministry. The Forum is at its sixth edition.
