Pavel Filip at Moldova Business Week 2018: Moldova is changing, developing and evolving
Moldova Business Week 2018 is the most important economic event in the country today brought together over a thousand business people from around 30 states, representatives of local companies, authorities and development partners.
In his greeting message, Prime Minister Pavel Filip encouraged investors to discover the potential of our country, highlighting the existing opportunities: access to EU and CIS markets, and favorable business start-up conditions.
"The Republic of Moldova, the one in 2018, is perfect for investment, because today our country is different than three years ago", the said Prime Minister. In this context, the head of the Executive referred to the measures taken by the Government to improve the business environment, including: approving the tax reform, reducing the institutions with control functions, reorganizing the Customs and Fiscal Service, and developing investment projects within the free economic zones IT parks.
Following the reforms promoted, and - registered a steady economic growth in the second quarter of this year, it reached 5.2%. At the same time, the number of people receiving salaries in the envelope dropped twice, exports increased by 30% and in just half a year foreign direct investments of about 130 million dollars were made. At the same time, investments of $380 million are forecast for the next two years.
"These are actually the best arguments - figures. Figures do not need statements and explanations. The numbers never lie and talk to us - are the results of reforms uneasy that - I started", said Pavel Filip.
Prime - Minister revealed that progress in business development are recognized by the international community - according to ranking "Doing Business 2019", our country ranks 14 in the "Starting a business". The fifth edition of Moldova Business Week will be held on 27-29 November this year. The program will include business meetings, local producers' visits, lectures and informative sessions.
