Andrian Candu: I will propose Octavian Armasu's candidature for Governor of NBM post
The current Minister of Finance, Octavian Armasu, could be the new governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The proposal was announced by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu at a press conference.
"Mr Cioclea's substitute must be a good one. Thinking about the personal involvement in all the achievements in the economic and financial sphere, I decided, on the basis of the law and competencies granted to me as President of Parliament, to propose to my colleagues in the plenary of Parliament that the next governor of the NBM is Mr. Octavian Armasu", said Andrian Candu.
According to the President of the Legislature, Octavian Armasu has demonstrated the qualities he possesses as Minister of Finance. Moreover, Armasu and Cioclea were partners in working with the international partners of our country.
"He is a professionally qualified person, and he has also shown good managerial capabilities. We are again in a very good financial and budgetary position. He managed with the Ministry of Finance team to bring to a high level all that means public finances. It has a great deal of experience both in the private sector and in the public sector.
Moreover, Mr. Octavian Armasu has been a good partner to Mr. Cioclea in all his relationships and cooperation with the IMF, the World Bank and other international partners. I think Mr. Octavian Armasu will be able to continue what Mr. Cioclea has started. It is known to international partners with whom they will continue to work. I hope very much that Parliament will give its approval today and we will be able to approve and call Mr Armasu as the governor", said Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker.
"For now, it is not known who took Armasu's place at the Finance Ministry if his candidature for the post of Governor of National Bank will be approved in the plenary of the Parliament", said Andrian Candu.
"The DPM team and the majority coalition, with the PPEM partners, have managed to create a very good, professional and technocratic government team, even with less political affiliation. I am sure the political team I belong to, together with the coalition partners, and together with the Prime Minister, we will be able to find the right person, perhaps even the technocrat, to take place and continue with the good things that Mr. Armasu has done", said Andrian Candu.
