Capital Interim Mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, urged that all the underground passages in the city be cleared in a week.

The official also said that light bulbs should be changed permanently for people to walk safely.  

"I do not think that the underground in today's state we need tens of millions to be clean and illuminated and maintained. I know you've changed the lighting and in two days all the bulbs are broken. We'll change the bulbs until people will not break them", said Interim Mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu.

According to the Public Transport and Communications Directorate, four underground passages will be repaired in 2019. This year only money was spent on maintenance.

There are 18 underground passages in the capital, out of which 10 are given to the economic agents.

Most passages were built during the Soviet period.
