More than thirty bridges across country will be repaired next year
More than thirty bridges across the country are to be repaired next year. The statement was made by the head of the Transport Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Radu Rogovei, within the Daily Theme from Canal 2.
The Head of Transport Infrastructure has talked about several problems with bridges in the country, including the lack of specialists who could make an assessment of them.
"In most of the cases there are problems caused by lack of maintenance and insufficient financial means during the 20 years of practice until 2009 no bridge has been repaired. No attention has been paid to the maintenance of these bridges", said the head of the Transport Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of Economy, Radu Rogovei.
Experts say bridges in the country, but also in the capital city, should be monitored and checked every year. They mention that there should also be no maintenance work, which prolongs the period of construction exploitation.
"We have to investigate the bridge that crosses the Bâc River on Mihai Viteazul Street until the spring, the bridge over the river Bac and the Vieru Street, and the well-known bridge on Ismail Street, which is also one of the oldest bridges, said the expert on road design and construction, Anatolie Omelico.
"At Ismail's passage there would be an average of at least 60-70 thousand units in 24 hours, we talk about physical vehicles in 24 hours. But do not leave the bridge in Mihai Viteazu street behind because we are on the arteries most loaded with traffic from the Republic of Moldova", said the tehnic expert Sergiu Bejan.
The State Road Administration has 851 bridges under its control. This summer, the whole world was shocked by the tragedy that took place in Italy. Morandi Bridge in the city of Genoa collapsed and took the lives of 43 people, including a Moldovan. After this incident, the Moldovan authorities started an inspection of all the bridges in the country.
