Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Azerbaijan was discussed today in Baku by Foreign Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and his counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.
Improving bilateral relations, streamlining trade-economic cooperation, interacting in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, collaborating within international and regional organizations have been central issues in the discussion of officials.
In the dialogue Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reiterated the importance of strengthening joint efforts to overcome frozen conflicts, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both states. In this context, the Azerbaijani Party's gratitude for supporting the UN resolution on the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova, adopted by the General Assembly in June 2018, was expressed.
In turn, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov confirmed the Azerbaijani's readiness to deepen bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, including the energy and transport sectors, stressing that the Azerbaijani side can provide Moldovan partners with expertise and assistance in the respective fields.
Ministers Ulianovschi and Mammadyarov also examined the possibility of strengthening the bilateral legal basis, agreeing to establish a more in-depth inter-ministerial dialogue with the active involvement of experts from two states.
Tudor Ulianovschi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will work on a working visit to Azerbaijan between December 13 and 14 this year, where he will have bilateral meetings with the top leadership of Baku, as well as attend the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Business external members of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).
