Six Moldovan Students Received Silver and Bronze Medals at International Youth Sciences Olympics
Success for Moldova. Six students from our country won a silver medal and five bronze medals at the International Youth Sciences Olympics. Moldovan participants competed with the best students in 47 countries of the world. The competition took place between December 2 and 11 in Gaborone, Botswana.
Stefan Nicov is 15 years old and is a 9th grade student at Mihai Eminescu's Theoretical Lyceum in Balti. The young man is the Olympian who brought the silver medal to our country. He says he has loved the passion for science ever since he was young and has since continued to improve his knowledge.
"My first Olympics has been in the fifth grade, and since then I'm dealing. Chemistry is an object that teaches you, at least at the experimental side to see things in more detail, more thoroughly, develop your skills to work more thoroughly, be more skillful", said Stefan Nicov, Olympic.
Adelina Andrei is the only girl in the Olympic team who has represented us this year at an international level.
"Even in the smaller classes, I was passionate about all the things that happened outside, all the phenomena. Even though I could not answer most of the questions, they raised a certain interest in me", said Adelina Andrei, Olympic.
With bronze medals, the other participants from our country were chosen, all pupils in a private high school in Chisinau.
"The emotions were very good, they were nice, because I won the first medal at the International Olympiad, but I was a bit disappointed because I was very close to the silver medal, it will be a boost to get bigger results, said Marius Frija, Olympic.
"For the first time, there were great emotions, stress before each test, sometimes I did not eat it because of it. The most difficult test, in my opinion, was the experiment", said Valerian Mocreac, Olympic.
"In the first two tests I had fewer emotions than the experimental test, because in the experimental test I did not rely only on myself but also on the team, I had to have the team. I had a very good experience", said Victor Soprata, Olympic.
The road to the success of the international Olympics was a long one for the six participants. They were the first in the district centers, and then occupied leading positions at the national Olympics.
"This result is the best in the history of the International Olympiad at Juniors Science, a silver medal and five bronze medals. I think the entire team is pleased with both teachers and students", said Ion Bulimestru, PhD in chemistry.
At this year's edition of the International Juniors Science Olympics, 255 students aged 15 years or over participated.
