Greek-Roman style wrestler Victor Ciobanu was named athlete of 2018 year
Victor Ciobanu was named the 2018 athlete in the Republic of Moldova. The Greek-Roman style fighter was awarded at the 2018 Sport Gala, which took place last night at the Palace of the Republic of the Capital.
Born in the village of Varvareuca, Floresti district, Ciobanu became the premiere of the winner of this trophy. Victor Ciobanu became World Champion this year.
"Sure, I'm happy. Because in 2014 I was second at this event, and I wanted to become the athlete of the year in our country, my country, the country I was born in. I spent my childhood here", said fighter Victor Ciobanu.
Greek-Romanian fighter coach Mihai Cucu became the winner of the trophy for the second time.
"It is clear, I am happy, it is not only my work, but all the Greek-Roman coaches who are working in. I would like to repeat this performance next year, because next year is the main one. we will have to work further, 2019 will decide if we will participate in the Olympic Games", said Mihai Cucu, coach of Greek-Roman wrestling.
Anastasia Nichita was awarded the "Talent of the 2018 Year" trophy. She has become this year's world champion in feminine fights.
"I am happy because the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research has appreciated the work that I do, together with my coach and the whole wrestling team", said Anastasia Nichita.
In the possession of the trophy for "The best team of the year 2018" was the national team of free and Greek-Roman fights.
From the list of the best athletes of the year are the archer Dan Olaru, the fighter Donior Islamov, the tennis player Radu Albot and the canoe Oleg Tarnovschi.
