A man from Soroca wanted to make a fortune on chewing gums
An impressive amount of chewing gum, the value of which increases to 80,000 lei, would be fraudulent in the Republic of Moldova. The mixed control team, made up of border guards and customs inspectors, unveiled the plan of a Moldovan citizen to illegally introduce goods into the country, by camouflaging them into the trunk.
On January 21, at the Otaci crossing point, a Mercedes 312 D transport model, registered in the Republic of Moldova, approached the control line. At the wheel of the car, a 41 years old man from the village of Vasilcau, Soroca district, was legitimated.
Based on information held at the level of the North Regional Directorate, border guards and customs officers ordered the vehicle to be thoroughly checked. Thus, in a special place in the luggage box area, 256 boxes of chewing gums were found, for which the driver confirmed that they belong to them but do not have documents of provenance. The 7,680 packages were to reach the black market in Moldova, and after their sale the person raised an amount of 80,000 lei.
The man has complied with the confiscation requirements of the merchandise and is willing to cooperate with law enforcement.
As a result, all cargo was lifted and placed in the Otaci Border Police Retention Room, until all circumstances were established and law enforcement was enforced.
