Israel will no longer recognize medical diplomas from Republic of Moldova
Decision taken by the Ministry of Health in Israel. The authorities in that country will recognize only the bachelor's degree in medicine issued by the faculties of the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development as well as those in the institutions accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education. This means that from this year, Israeli students will bypass medical faculties in former USSR member states, including Moldova, but also from some EU countries, such as Romania or Croatia.
Those who are already students in these countries will give a series of exams exams after graduating from the faculty. They will then take an internship at a hospital in Israel to prove that they meet all the criteria required by the national health system.
The decision was taken as a result of the scandal of false diplomas, in which the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu" from Chisinau and University from Armenia took part.
Each of hundreds of Israeli students would have paid for a document 15,000 euro. The information was denied by the administration of the Moldovan institution, but also by the Ministry of Health of Chisinau.
From 1995 to 2018, more than three thousand foreign students graduated the "Nicolae Testemiteanu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Until now, the institution has not been involved in such scandals.
